Wool up!

Hackustica has designed WoolUp HD | Acoustic Panel, a technical insulating product made from sheep’s wool, destined for the building and architectural acoustics sector. Thanks to the support of our technical partner Brebey, specialized in the industrial wool processing technologies, we have developed a line of highly performing and innovative thermal-acoustic insulators that comply with the requirements defined by the Minimum Environmental Criteria

YOUR IDEAL AND SUSTAINABLE CHOICE FOR THE ENERGY SAVING OF BUILDINGS!

Eco-sfrienbdly, circular, biodegradable

Natural sheep’s wool fibers produce an almost zero value of CO_2 during processing, do not release any substance that is harmful to humans and the environment, and can be recycled without high energy consumption.

The elasticity and greater cohesion of the layers is guaranteed thanks to the use of a polyester fiber obtained from the recycling of coextruded bottles with a small part of two-component.

The heat-melting polyester fibers are mixed uniformly with the sheep’s wool fiber and are subsequently subjected to a heating of 150 ° C. The small amount of heat-melting fiber nonetheless allows the creation of a product characterized by a very high biodegradability and integral recyclability: it is not entirely natural, but fully respects the environmental regulations.

High-performance, modular

We produce sheep’s wool insulation in variable densities and sizes, with low thermal conductivity and high acoustic absorption coefficient that allow us to offer superior performance and resilience to products made of synthetic and mineral fibers.

Our line is ideal for soundproofing spaces and the insulation of:

  • cavities
  • counter-walls
  • false ceilings
  • attics

Uniform, compact, elastic

The innovative processing technology gives the product a particular elasticity that keeps its shape and properties unchanged over time, unlike other wool insulators which appear as soft, not very elastic, and incoherent felts.

Density 20-50 kg / m³

  • Thickness: 40 mm – 120 mm;
  • Plates measuring 60 cm x 60 cm or 120 cm x 60 cm;
  • Roll width: variable 60-120 cm according to needs;
  • Ideal for the insulation of flat, sloping roofs and attics with wooden and brick-concrete structures;
  • Easy to store, transport and install;
  • Possibility of vacuum packing for rolls with 20 kg / m³ density.

Density 70-120 kg/m³

  • Thickness: 40 mm – 120 mm
  • Plates measuring 60 cm x 60 cm or 120 cm x 60 cm
  • Ideal for the insulation of wall cavities, partitions, internal and external coats, false ceilings and roofs;
  • Easy to store, transport and install.

FROM REFUSE TO REUSE

Groundbreaking thermal-acoustic insulation inspired from nature

Hackustica is committed to developing a production process that is inspired by the engineering of nature. Within natural ecosystems there is no production but only reproduction, there is no waste because everything is transformed to remain an integral part of the life cycle.

Hackustica recovers and transforms underused animal, plant, and agro-industrial by-products which, instead of ending up in landfills, represent an ecological alternative to the traditional energy-intensive and unsustainable insulating materials.

Through regenerative and smart design, we transform materials whose disposal is a problem into new resources to facilitate the ecological transition and promote the development of local supply chain processes. Our R&D activity focuses on thermal-acoustic materials whose production does not go beyond the environmental capacity to regenerate resources and absorb waste.

WHY SHEEP’S WOOL?

Sheep’s wool is the natural insulation par excellence, it naturally performs this function for the sheeps but today, once shorn, it ends up incinerated in the fields.

90% of the Italian sheep’s wool not employed in the textile sector is burned because of unsustainable disposal costs for the farmers.

In Italy there are 135,702 sheep and goat farms that produce about 10,000 tons of greasy wool every year. Puglia is a region with a prevalent agro-pastoral vocation. Out of a total of 6 million heads throughout the national territory, Puglia ranks sixth with about 186,277 sheep heads.

Hackustica has been developing, together with various partners, an innovative production chain ecosystem for the recovery and enhancement of the Apulian sheep’s wool. We intend to support the creation of a Consortium of Breeders with the aim of redistributing the value along the entire supply chain.
